Given that adolescent newcomers’ literacy has been understudied (Cumming, 2023), and that limited academic support programs are available outside schools (Shizha & Makwarimba, 2024), much more work needs to be done to better understand the nature of language and literacy trajectories among adolescent NLs and to meet their needs.
