- Cognitive complaints in body dysmorphic disorder: An exploratory characterization across clinical and community samples (2026) · Psychological Medicine · doi
Future research should examine the longitudinal dynamics of cognitive complaints in BDD, including whether social cognition difficulties intensify during symptom flares and whether subject- ive cognition predicts CBT engagement or functional outcomes. As an exploratory instrument, the current study was not designed to provide full psychometric validation, and further work is required to examine factor structure, test–retest reliability, and sensitivity to change.

(2025) · Journal of Behavior Therapy and Experimental Psychiatry · doi
The extent to which differences exist within the group of socially anxious individuals and whether these have a predictive value for the extent of symptom reduction after cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) has been studied less until to date and yielded inconsistent findings, particularly in child samples.

Most cognitive research on BD has analyzed case-control differences in measures of central tendency, which may not capture individual fluctuations in cognitive performance. There is a need to examine intraindividual variability in BD and its associations with cognitive measures and white matter microstructure.
