  This study has examined the state of environmental resources in Ghana, focusing on the major challenges of deforestation, illegal mining, water pollution, and land deg- radation, all of which pose significant threats to the country’s ecological stability and socio-economic development. While considerable progress has been made in policy for- mulation and conservation efforts, the findings underscore that these efforts have been undermined by weak enforcement, inadequate monitoring, and fragmented approaches to resource management. The study highlights the urgent need for an integrated, multi-sectoral approach to environmental governance. Strengthening environmental regulations, improving institutional capacity, and fostering community-based manage- ment systems are essential to ensuring the long-term sustainability of Ghana’s natural resources. Future research should prioritize long-term socio-economic impacts of illegal mining, effectiveness of climate-smart agriculture, and scalability of digital monitoring technologies.
