  • PROBLEMS OF SOCIAL SECURITY PLANNING IN INDUSTRIALISED AND DEVELOPING COUNTRIES (1974) · International Social Security Review · cited 6× · doi

Since the evolution of social security is determined by and reciprocally affects a number of important aspects of societal development, these should be studied in relation to the plan ; in addition to demographic and economic factors, due attention should be paid to non-quantifiable aspects of develop- ment, including social structural and political factors which may be of decisive importance. A proper analysis of needs and the possible ways of meeting them is still lacking, but studies are under way to fill this gap. Although the economic analysis of social security operations is inconclusive as to the impact of the institution on the economic factors of development, the economic side-effects of social security schemes, which are important in industrialised countries, are clearly even more important in developing countries.

  • ORIGINS AND ACTIVITIES OF THE ILO COMMITTEE OF SOCIAL SECURITY EXPERTS (1969) · International Social Security Review · cited 1× · doi

The Committee of Experts‘ work is by no means completed; no doubt much remains to be done. It becomes more and more evident that the close interdependence between social security and the national economy calls for a more comprehensive approach to social security planning and involves the need for further research into the contribution of social security towards the redistribution of income and its impact on other economic factors.
