In scientific research on the effectiveness of psychotherapeutic supervision, supervision in the field of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, although scarcely studied, was often associated with a formal teacher-student relationship, and undeservedly little attention was paid to the experiences of supervisors.

A modification that would improve the reported dual supervision ex perience would be to allow the counselor trainees to review the tapes of 298 COUNSELOR EDUCATION AND SUPERVISION any client with both supervisors. Also, the staff supervisor's sessions with the counselor trainees might be taped and reviewed. It would be especially helpful for the examination of supervisory techniques if the student supervisor or both supervisors were having difficulty with a trainee or if the student supervisor were not familiar with the staff su pervisor's orientation and style. On the basis of this exploratory study, the dual supervision model merits further research and field testing. The counselor trainees. who experienced dual supervision rated the experience as adding a great deal to their personal and professional growth as counselors. The staff supervisor and student supervisor were also pleased with their own per sonal and professional growth as supervisors. Future investigations and implementations of the model should deal with large samples and con trol for supervisory style. REFERENCES Arbuckle, D.S.
