What the literature leaves open
This study has limitations that future research should address. Contrary to Mason & Morrison's (2008) (2008) regime-switching that correlation structures are theoretical prediction that low-cost carriers' operational volatility translates into chaotic stock dynamics, we find mixed evidence: Wizz Air confirms this pattern, while Ryanair and EasyJet display stability, suggesting that business model effects are mediated by firm-specific factors such as route networks, hedging strategies, and financial leverage.
Nonlinear Dynamics and Chaotic Microstructure of European Airline Stocks: Evidence from Recurrence Quantification Analysis · 2026 · DOISeveral limitations should be considered when interpreting the findings of this research. First, the study was conducted at two specific airports in Turkey (one regional and one major global hub), which may limit the generalizability of the results to larger international hubs with different infrastructure. Second, the cross- sectional design captures passenger needs at a single point in time, potentially missing seasonal variations in health-related travel behaviors. Third, the data rely on self-reported measures, which are susceptible to recall bias and social desirability. Additionally, security constraints in sterile zones prevented objective observation of medical events, necessitating a reliance on participant declaration. Finally, while qualitative inter-coder reliability was high, the depth of thematic insights was constrained by the brief nature of open-ended survey responses.
A primary limitation of this study is its reliance on the perspectives of institutional stakeholders and industry experts through Focus Group Discussions, rather than on direct empirical data from passengers subjected to these measures.
Flying Under Surveillance: Social Acceptance and Implementation Dynamics of Standard Screening Requirements in Indonesian Aviation Security · 2026 · DOIThe paper mentions testing with KPIs but does not provide detailed information about the sample size, duration of the test period, or statistical significance of the improvements reported.
Application of machine learning to storage allocation decision making system within air cargo terminals · 2026 · DOIThe paper lacks discussion of how the machine learning model would adapt and retrain over time as operational conditions, cargo characteristics, or terminal layouts change.
Application of machine learning to storage allocation decision making system within air cargo terminals · 2026 · DOIThe paper does not discuss how the hybrid system would perform under extreme or unusual operational conditions, such as sudden demand spikes, equipment failures, or emergency situations.
Application of machine learning to storage allocation decision making system within air cargo terminals · 2026 · DOIThe study was conducted in a single real warehouse setting; generalization to other air cargo terminals with different layouts, operational conditions, and characteristics remains unexplored.
Application of machine learning to storage allocation decision making system within air cargo terminals · 2026 · DOIAviation enterprises (airports) are massive facilities with a variety of effects on the environment, yet, those influences are significantly understudied and lack structuring, leaving the airports at low levels of sustainability and with impaired management.
Development of a cognitive model for the analysis of relationships in the airport environmental management system · 2023 · DOIOriginality/value/contribution – In filling the gap in the literature on the evolution of supply and demand in the Brazilian aviation market, the study evaluates some of the leading indicators associated with performance in cities with more than one airport.
Aviation supply and demand in the São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro systems evolution: An exploratory study · 2022 · DOIIn addition, airlines transiting in Karol Wojtya Airport show a small willingness to share information through environmental reports and are scarcely intentioned to make use of bio jet fuels, confirming that low-cost companies are still less attentive towards aviation environmental issues.
Enhancing the Sustainability of the Aviation Industry: Airlines Commitment to Green Practices · 2021 · DOIHowever, estimation of the effect return flight schedules have on airline choice for an international round-trip flight has not yet been studied in detail.
Airline choice model for an international round-trip flight considering outbound and return flight schedules · 2020 · DOIThe key limitation of the research paper is the impossibility of conducting the research on site, at Croatian airports, where the users have “contact with the service”, especially the supporting services.
Empirical research on user satisfaction with the transport and the supporting services at Croatian airports · 2019 · DOIThe availability and validity of statistical data in many important markets of air transport services is limited, a great impediment being the lack of data on the number of flights among residents carried out in some of the analysed countries.
ANALYSIS OF CHANGES IN WORLD SPATIAL DISTRIBUTION OF PASSENGER AIR TRANSPORT IN THE YEARS 2005-2017 · 2019 · DOIWhile previous works have suggested that road congestion can slow down regional development, the influence of air traffic delays on metro‐level jobs has not been examined comprehensively.
It is concluded with a discussion on the sometimes conflicting results of government policies, whether these policies are explicitly or implicitly directed at the industry.
The Rise and Fall of General Aviation: Product Liability, Market Structure, and Technological Innovation · 1995It remains to be seen whether public interest and political initiative can be combined t o prevent the progression of Jamaica Bay and its surrounding communities to this end.
