The integration of geophysical data into architectural and structural design
Research gap analysis derived from 3 earth_science papers in our local library.
The gap
The gap in the integration of geophysical data into architectural and structural design. The lack of consideration for soil dynamic properties and critical vibration periods in building design. The need for a comprehensive approach to optimize building designs for safer and more sustainable structures.

- Investigating seismic behavior in adjacent structures: A study on the impact of structures embedment level and existence of dead loads considering soil-structure interaction (2024) · Results in Engineering · cited 12× · doi
The aim of this paper is to give a comprehensive awareness of some substantial factors including the influences of the embedment level of a building and the presence of dead loading which affect the structure-soil-structure interaction (SSSI) of nearby buildings that were not investigated thoroughly in the preceding studies related to seismic analysis and design, and earthquakes hazards assessment.

To further enhance the generalizability of the findings obtained from the present case study, the following aspects will be addressed in subsequent research: (1) Parametric studies on structural configurations. Future work will systematically vary key structural parameters, including building height (e.g., low-rise, mid-rise, and high-rise RC frames), span length, and bay width, to investigate how these geometric factors influence the relative seismic performance of SDs and FVDs. This will help determine whether the intensity-dependent performance trends observed in this study remain consistent across a broader range of frame typologies. (2) Consideration of seismic design categories and site conditions. The influence of different seismic design categories (e.g., seismic fortification intensity levels) and site soil classes on damper effectiveness will be examined. By incorporating multiple ground motion suites compatible with various site conditions, the study aims to establish a more comprehensive reference library that can support damper selection under diverse hazard and site scenarios.
