  • The effect of the CI-Tombala game on the knowledge level of gifted students regarding geographically indicated products (2026) · Journal for the Education of Gifted Young Scientists · doi

A review of the literature indicates a lack of studies and game-based applications specifically targeting middle school students in the teaching of geographically indicated products, which are an important component of cultural heritage. Based on the findings of this study, which demonstrate that the CI-Tombala game has a positive effect on students’ knowledge levels, it is recommended that various game-based instructional tools be developed for teaching GI-registered products. Since the study group in this project consisted of middle school students, future research may extend this work by including students at different educational levels, such as primary and high school students.

Teachers are advised to begin with shorter, more structured game activities before progressing to more open-ended formats, allowing students to develop familiarity and confidence with game-based learning gradually. Teachers should explicitly communicate the communicative learning objectives of each game activity to students, countering any perception that games are insufficiently rigorous. 3.
