Given that urban carbon management is inherently socio-technical, future research should explore how DCM interfaces with governance structures, policy instruments, and stakeholder decision-making processes, particularly in diverse regulatory and cultural contexts. Given these factors, the findings should be interpreted as indicative of relative emissions intensity across firms, rather than as precise measures of the CBAM liability at the installation level. Fourth, the Panjiva shipment data requires non-trivial filtering. All analyses are based on items reported in metric tonnes, which may lead to the exclusion of some observations during the filtering process. Items classified by numbers or pieces involve complex conversions that are not modelled here.
