In addi- tion, among the four recurrences, three were in thetympanocentesis group, suggesting that we need to analyze any baseline factor deeply. Fourth, the sample size, while adequate for describing outcomes in this real-world cohort, may have been insufficient to detect a small but clinically meaningful difference in OME resolution time between the two strategies. The observed hazard ratio of 0.665 (95% CI 0.44 to 1.00, p = 0.054) indicates a trend favoring tympanocentesis but with considerable uncertainty, as reflected by the wide confidence interval crossing unity. Future studies with larger sample sizes are warranted to provide a more precise estimate of the treatment effect. In future studies, a more comprehensive experimental design should be considered.
