Future Trends and Challenges of the Flipped Classroom Model in Vocational Education: A Bibliometric Analysis · 2026 · DOIThis study contributes significantly to knowledge development, particularly re- garding research trends, benefits, challenges, and future research to examine the impact of the FCM in vocational education. The research results showed an increase in publications, but this increase has not yet significantly impacted vocational education (R² = 0.1847). China con- tributed to this research at 41.23%, followed by Indonesia at 11.40% and Spain at 8.77%. The co-occurrence analysis identified three clusters in this topic: stu- dent learning outcomes and academic performance; the application of the FCM; and the application of educational technology and pedagogical innovation in vo- cational education. This learning model benefits vocational education in cogni- tive, psychomotor, and affective aspects and encourages teachers to design more engaging and compelling learning experiences. However, its implementa- tion still faces challenges from the students, technology, pedagogy, and institu- tional perspectives. Based on the results of the study, it is clear that there are significant implica- tions for vocational education, both for teachers and policymakers, regarding the importance of implementing the FCM in the learning process in order to improve student independent learning. This also greatly supports students’ life- long learning skills, which are essential in the era of 21st-century technological development. Based on the study’s results, researchers can also recommend examining the long-term impact of the FCM on student competence. In addition, technologies such as educational games and augmented reality can be integrated to improve students’ independent learning before attending classes. The results of this study provide comprehensive knowledge about the impact of the FCM. In terms of students, it can improve knowledge, critical thinking skills, creativity, problem-solving, metacognition, practical skills, motivation, self-efficacy, and satisfaction. Students need all of this knowledge and these skills to enter the workforce. Additionally, there are positive effects on teachers as educators, including enhanced creativity, mastery of educational technology, and readiness to implement teaching methods. It is hoped that future research can combine article search databases from Springer, IEEE, PubMed, Dimension, Frontiers, and other leading databases. In addition, researchers can conduct pure studies of the long-term impact of ap- plying this model on student competence and integrate it with the latest tech- nologies currently being developed (such as game education or augmented real- ity).

The following recommendations, grounded in the specific patterns and issues identified in this synthesis, outline essential changes needed across multiple levels of the research enterprise to establish a credible and actionable evidence base for FL practices. Researchers must adopt comprehensive reporting standards extending beyond procedural details to include implementation characteristics, following models like the ENTREQ statement and explicitly specifying review processes, sources, and rationales. Educational researchers must move beyond token searches to meaningful incorporation, with review protocols explicitly specifying search strategies, quality assessment criteria, and integration methods, including routine sensitivity analyses. Mandatory protocols should be established for all educational intervention reviews. Journals should require explicit reporting as publication conditions and employ multi-dimensional assessment tools evaluating both methodological quality and intervention-specific factors. Comprehensive search strategies must include multilingual databases and international collaboration. These strategies should include explicit documentation of languages included and excluded, requiring investment in translation resources despite practical constraints. Researchers must develop instruments aligned with FL's theoretical foundations, creating assessments for critical thinking and collaborative skills beyond traditional knowledge-recall measures. This development should address self-report bias through methodological triangulation. Process-oriented methodologies are needed to track learning over time, including ecological momentary assessment, learning analytics, and mixed-methods approaches, with scale development targeting mechanistic constructs rather than just outcomes. These recommendations represent not merely methodological refinements, but fundamental reconceptualisation of how educational interventions like FL are evaluated and understood. Such comprehensive transformation may enable FL research to achieve the rigor necessary. LIMITATIONS This UR has several methodological limitations that should be considered when interpreting its findings. First, the restriction to English-language, open-access publications may have excluded relevant reviews published in other languages or behind paywalls.

English Major Students’ Perceptions of the Flipped Classroom in an EFL Context: A Case Study of Afghan English Major Students · 2026 · DOIBased on the findings of this study, both the flipped classroom model and the 14 argumentation-based learning model can be used as student-centered alternatives in social studies teaching. Teachers may integrate short instructional videos, classroom discussions, evidence-based argumentation tasks, and collaborative activities to support students’ academic achievement and engagement. In-service training programs may be organized to help social studies teachers design and implement these models effectively. Particular attention should be given to planning age-appropriate digital materials, managing classroom discussion, and guiding students in constructing evidence-based arguments. Future studies should examine these models with different grade levels, learning areas, and longer intervention periods. Researchers are also encouraged to report effect sizes and to support quantitative findings with qualitative data in order to provide a more comprehensive understanding of how these instructional models influence learning processes. The Effect of the Flipped Classroom Model and the Argumentation-Based Learning Model on Students' Academic Achievement and Attitudes toward the Social Studies Course · 2026 · DOIThis study had several limitations that may affect the generalizability of its findings. The small sample size of 42 Grade 10 students from a single school limits the representativeness of the results. Also, several factors likely contributed to this outcome, particularly student motivation and engagement with take-home experiments and preclass materials. Some students may have lacked consistent support or a conducive home environment, affecting their ability to participate in Flip-Lab activities fully. Additionally, the limited duration of the intervention and the 45-minute time constraint per session imposed by the MATATAG curriculum presented difficulties. Researchers observed challenges in covering all lessons while fostering deeper connections between theoretical knowledge and practical skills acquired outside of the classroom. With five science process skills to enhance and only 3 hours and 45 minutes per week allocated for each gas law topic, the time was insufficient to achieve the desired educational goals and reinforce what they’d learned at home through in-depth discussion of the topics. The short implementation period, confined to one grading period (4th grading), may have limited students' ability to fully internalize and apply integrated science process skills (ISPS). Despite the positive trend observed, these factors collectively contributed to the small effect size of the intervention.
Given the short intervention, the controlled setting, and the use of self-report measures, further research is needed before firmer conclusions can be drawn about the mechanisms and boundary conditions of the 4F model. First, implementations of the 4F model should be examined under authentic home-based flipped conditions to evaluate how autonomy, environmental variability, and self-regulation shape engagement and learning outcomes.
improving Implications for flipped instruction These finding draw attention to the potential of the flipped model as a means of student engagement and performance in secondary chemistry classes in Jordan. Nevertheless, wider implementation of this teaching model is bound to consider the contingencies of national educational systems such as differences in school equipment, uneven availability of digital resources and variability in teachers’ computer skills. Institutional support–especially involving the Ministry of Education– is therefore a pre-requisite for designing the necessary circumstances to facilitate sustainable implementation. In order to enhance the efficacy of the intervention, it is suggested that teachers be encouraged to use FL as a result of their ability to develop deeper understanding, engage students actively and decrease dependence on teacher-centered classes. Teachers also need targeted professional development that provides them with the skills to design and manage digital instructional materials, support students in learning independently and reflect on their needs according confidence (Aburayash, 2021). Moreover, future studies should examine FL in noneconomic subjects and at other educational levels to study if it is appropriate or not. More diverse school settings could be introduced to the research, which might add credibility to its findings. By enriching the empirical evidence, educational policy a better makers understanding regarding how FL might be adapted to cater for diverse learners needs and result in sustainable education reform in Jordan.
